Getting There
- Without a car: Ride the Mont Sëuc gondola from Ortisei, the Seiser Alm cableway from Siusi/Seis, or the Alpe di Siusi cable car from Siusi; buses from Bolzano (Bus 170) reach Siusi/Castelrotto.
- With a car: The plateau road is closed to private cars 9am–5pm unless you are a meadow-hotel guest (€150+ fine otherwise); outside those hours you can drive up for sunrise/sunset.
Getting Around
- On the plateau: Park at Compatsch (P2 lot, ~€5/day), about a 1-hour walk to the prime viewpoint; an on-plateau shuttle and lifts connect the huts. Everything is walkable or bikeable from Compatsch.
When to Visit
- Best: June–July for wildflowers, September–early October for golden light and fewer crowds; lifts run roughly late May–mid-October and mid-week is quieter on the cable cars.
The Car Ban
- Most important rule: The 9am–5pm private-car ban is the single most important thing to plan around — overnight on the meadow, or use the lifts.
