- By car: ~120 km / 1h20–1h30 from Frankfurt; a common Romantic Road start. Pick up the rental at Frankfurt and begin here.
- By train: Fast ICE links — Frankfurt–Würzburg in ~1h07–1h50, Würzburg–Nuremberg in ~53 min–1h13. Station lockers let you do Würzburg as a bags-down day stop. Reaching Rothenburg by rail requires a change (often at Steinach).
