Städtle Centre & Vaduz Castle Climb
The capital's whole core on foot: from the post/bus hub up the pedestrian Städtle — the car-free main street lined with the parliament, museums and the Hofkellerei wine cellars — past the neo-Gothic Cathedral of St. Florin, then up the forest castle path to Schloss Vaduz, the prince's hilltop residence (interior closed) whose terrace gives the classic overlook across the town, the Rhine valley and the Swiss Alps opposite.

Walk to the Old Rhine Bridge
From the Städtle a short stroll west to the river reaches the Alte Rheinbrücke, the last historic covered wooden bridge over the Rhine — car-free and atmospheric. Walk its full span and you cross from Liechtenstein into Switzerland (Vaduz to Sevelen) in a couple of minutes.

Malbun

- Getting there (no car): No train station in Vaduz itself; take a train to Sargans or Buchs (Switzerland) then a short bus into Vaduz. There are no border controls between Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
- Getting there (with car): Cross at Balzers or the Old Rhine Bridge; central parking at Parkhaus Zentrum.
- Getting around: Vaduz is walkable; buses (LIEmobil) reach Malbun and the villages.
Good to Know
- It's a quick stop — a couple of hours covers central Vaduz; its main practical value is as a novelty second country and as a base for the nearby Swiss Alpstein hikes.
- Currency is the Swiss Franc; no special documents needed beyond your Schengen entry.
- Check Vaduz Castle's status before going up — it's a residence, viewed only from outside.
- Liechtenstein is generally cheaper to sleep in than Switzerland — a practical reason to base here for the nearby Alpstein hikes.
